One of Australia’s richest men places order at Chinese shipyard

A 21st century version of the doomed Titanic has been commissioned by Clive Palmer, one of Australia’s richest men. Due to set sail from London to New York in late 2016, the vessel will be designed to look as similar as possible to the original ship, but with modern technology onboard. A memorandum of understanding with the state-owned Chinese shipyard CSC Jinling Shipyard has reportedly been signed.
“It will be every bit as luxurious as the original Titanic, but of course it will have state-of-the-art 21st century technology and the latest navigation and safety systems.”
When questioned on whether the new vessel would sink, Palmer replied: “Of course it will sink if you put a hole in it. It is going to be designed so it won’t sink. But, of course, if you are superstitious like you are, you never know what could happen.”
