Biggest-ever passenger jet lands in Copenhagen

Emirates A380 now officially in use for Copenhagen-Dubai
The biggest passenger aircraft in the world, the Airbus A380, landed in Copenhagen for the first time on a scheduled flight yesterday. The Emirates A380 is now officially in use for the Copenhagen-Dubai route.
The new flight will help CPH increase its annual traffic numbers from 25 to 40 million, “617 passengers at a time”, the airport wrote on Twitter. Thomas Woldbye, the airport’s CEO, hailed Tuesday’s landing as “a milestone”.
“Over the past ten years, the number of long-distance routes has doubled to 34,” Woldbye said. “This is where we see a good portion of our future growth, and as the leading traffic hub in northern Europe we need to be able to accommodate the biggest jets like the A380.”
Crowds turned out to see the landing, including Denmark’s Business and Growth Minister Troels Lund Poulsen, who officially welcomed the aircraft.
