Hotels on the island are on alert for second time this year

Hotels on the popular Indonesian island of Bali are on terror alert for the second time this year. The alert follows recent attacks on police outposts in Indonesia. In May, security forces increased surveillance in Bali when five suspected terrorists were shot in raids on hotels. Indonesia’s National Counterterrorism Agency has arrested 780 suspected members of terrorist organisations since it was set up in 2010.
An official in the Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association told Bali Daily, “The association has closely coordinated with the government, the police and its members to take the necessary measures to prevent any possible terrorist threats.” The head of Bali’s tourism office, Ida Bagus Kade Subhiksu, has advised the general managers of all types of accommodation to follow strict security standards.
