BA to go head-to-head with Ryanair

British Airways to fly from London Stansted
For the first time, British Airways will launch flights from London’s Stansted Airport, a major base for low-cost carrier Ryanair. BA’s routes from Stansted will be to leisure destinations, throwing the two airlines into direct competition.
From May, IAG-owned British Airways will fly to Ibiza, Malaga and Palma in Spain and to Faro in Portugal, from 49 pounds (€63) one way.
It will compete directly with Ryanair on these routes, whose cheapest one-way flights in May currently cost about 25 pounds.
This is new budget carrier territory for BA. The flights will be operated by its BA CityFlyer subsidiary with 98-seat, two-cabin Embraer aircraft, which are usually based at London City Airport.
