More passengers means more non-aviation revenue
Norwegian airport operator Avinor says it boosted duty-free sales and rental for the first half of 2017 to NOK 1.2 billion (€129 million), from NOK 1.15 billion in the same period last year.
Air traffic measured by number of passengers flying via Avinor’s airports in the same period rose 4.3%, with international traffic up 7% but domestic traffic increasing by only 2.7%.
Traffic at Oslo Gardermoen grew 7.3%, contrasting with the combined growth of other airports at 1.2%.
Major highlights in the first half of 2017 included the opening of the new extended terminal areas at Oslo Gardermoen and the 80th anniversary of Stavanger airport, Avinor said. The new Bergen airport officially opened in August.
