“Art hotel” to open in iconic London location

Guests to swim among the chimneys of Battersea Power Station
An iconic London landmark is to be reborn with luxury apartments and a unique hotel. Battersea Power Station, a former coal-fired power station on the south bank of the River Thames in southwest London, will keep its famous chimneys and structure but will otherwise be completely new.
The PPHE Hotel Group has signed an agreement to develop a new art’otel in the building and the property is expected to open in 2019. It will feature around 160 bedrooms with an outdoor rooftop swimming pool overlooking the chimneys.
“The selection process to find the right brand and operator was a very competitive and thorough one, involving the leading hotel brands from around the world,” said Rob Tincknell, chief executive of Battersea Power Station Development Company.
“Art’otel was a standout winner, a brand unlike anything we have seen in London to date, and it is particularly fitting for it to have art at the very heart of the brand and the hotel itself.”
Art’otel is part of the PPHE Hotel Group, which operates a majority of its 38 hotels under two brands, Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts and art’otel. Boris Ivesha, president & chief executive of PPHE Hotel Group, said: “The Battersea Power Station Development will transform London’s skyline, creating a new destination and hub for local communities, visitors and residents.”
