Arlanda now “cosy little airport inside a big one”

Swedavia inaugurates Stockholm Arlanda Terminal 2

Swedish airport operator Swedavia describes Stockholm Arlanda’s newly inaugurated Terminal 2 as “a modern city airport with speedy, smooth flows”. The terminal, whose inauguration took place yesterday, has expanded by more than 2,000 square metres and now offers “a wide range of options for shopping, food and beverages”. In 2015, a new baggage sorting facility will also be inaugurated.
In total, Swedavia is investing a total of around SEK 400 million (€46.5 million) in the refurbishment of Terminal 2. The operator says the objective is for Stockholm Arlanda to be “Scandinavia’s most modern and passenger-friendly meeting place and airport”.
A new lounge on the upper level gives “a luxurious feeling of home”, and there’s a new brasserie, a two-level Italian café-restaurant and several new shops.
Perhaps most importantly, the terminal now also has shorter distances from the entrance to the gates. “It takes no more than 15 minutes to get from the train, bus or car to the gate,” Kjell-Åke Westin, the airport’s director, said. “Along with this smooth flow, passengers will get the feeling of being at a cosy little airport contained in a big one.”
