At least ten killed as An-28 crashes in Kamchatka

An 18-seat two-engine turboprop Antonov An-28, operated by the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Air Enterprise, has crashed on approach to the small town of Palana in Russia’s far eastern Kamchatka peninsula. Of the 12 passengers and two crew members aboard, ten are known to have been killed. The four survivors, including a 13-year-old boy, are in a critical condition. The status of a four-year-old girl said to have been on board is not known.
The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky Air Enterprise flies between towns on the peninsula. Russia’s Interstate Aviation Committee has launched an investigation.
