“We expect to add seats to the 737 and MD-80 fleets”

If you think your flights are already crowded, consider plans at American Airlines. The struggling US carrier is trying to find ways to increase revenues following its merger with US Airways. Now it says it can squeeze more seats into the economy areas on many of its planes, CNNMoney writes.
The plans were revealed in a statement by Lauri Curtis, the airline’s vice president of flight services, to flight crews. The extra seats mean that, according to US law, the planes will have to have an additional flight attendant per flight.
“We expect to add seats to the 737 and MD-80 fleets, but we haven’t yet determined the right number of seats,” she writes.
