Ålesund: Widerøe’s 44th domestic destination

Daily service between Bergen and Ålesund from March 30

The Norwegian regional airline Widerøe will open a new daily service between Bergen’s Flesland airport and Ålesund’s airport Vigra on March 30. Ålesund is the carrier’s 44th domestic destination out of a total of 48 routes including Aberdeen, Newcastle, Copenhagen and Gothenburg.

The new Bergen-Ålesund route improves the internal flight connections for western Norway, Widerøe says. The timetable corresponds with the airline’s midday flight from Aberdeen to Bergen, giving “an excellent connection from Aberdeen to Ålesund”.

The new route will be operated by a 78-seat Dash8 Q400 and a 50-seat Dash 8 300.

Widerøe describes Ålesund as “a beautiful town built in Art Nouveau style and important both as a tourist destination and as a central junction for the oil and the export industry”, adding: “It is a pleasure to introduce Ålesund as our 11th destination in Fjord Norway.”
