KLM and Malaysia Airlines let pax share network profiles

It’s now possible for passengers to choose who they sit next to according to their appearance, profession and interests. Two airlines, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Malaysia Airlines, are allowing passengers to share their social network profiles and photos with the idea that they can pick seatmates before the flight. Meet & Seat is the name of KLM’s voluntary venture, currently available on flights between Amsterdam and New York, San Francisco and São Paulo. Between 90 days and 48 hours before departure, passengers can share their Facebook or LinkedIn profiles with others booked on the same flight via the Manage my Booking option on the airline’s website. Malaysia Airlines’ MHbuddy social-seating program is Facebook-only.
Passengers’ reactions have ranged from enthusiastic to very cautious, with some worried it could be a big attraction for stalkers.
