Airline uses movie for marketing

“Departure Date” is latest marketing effort from Virgin Group

The airlines that make up Virgin Group— Virgin America, Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Australia — have made a 30-minute film, which it says is the first commercial movie to be filmed at 10 kilometres up in the air. The giant ad is part of Virgin Skies – a new marketing campaign whose aim is to bring together the airlines in the group and position Virgin as a “global airline” and to “build affinity for the brand.”
In the film, a young couple played by Ben Feldman and Nicky Whelan meet and fall in love under the purple glow of Virgin cabins. It was shot over nine days on scheduled flights between Los Angeles, London, Dallas and Sydney.
