Airline Services Group, the Manchester-headquartered aviation services provider, has appointed Mike Humphreys as chief executive officer as the business looks to capitalise on continued growth in the commercial aerospace sector.
Mr Humphreys replaces Bryan Bodek, who is stepping down to focus on other business interests.
Airline Services provides essential maintenance, repair and overhaul services to more than 100 airlines and aviation businesses in the UK and internationally.
Humphreys joins Airline Services with nearly 30 years’ experience in international aviation services management, having held a number of senior roles in the industry, including CEO of FLS Aerospace, executive vice president of SR Technics, managing director of Oxford Aviation Academy and operations leader for Europe and Africa at CAE.
After receiving a bachelor’s degree in aeronautics and astronautics from the University of Southampton, Humphreys began his career in 1985 at the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough. After a period working at BAE Systems, he joined FLS Aerospace in 1990.
Lloyd Cromwell Griffiths, chairman at Airline Services Group, said: “Mike has an impressive and proven track record as a leader in the global aviation services sector. His customer focused approach will be integral to supporting the development of our unparalleled range of services in the areas of airport ramp and de-icing services, the design, manufacture and maintenance cabin interior equipment and component support services. I look forward to working closely with Mike as he takes the business into its next period of growth and wish him every success as our new CEO.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mike Humphreys said: “Global demand for commercial aviation represents a significant opportunity for Airline Services Group. The business’ ability to support airlines across ground handling, components and cabin interiors is unique and positions us well as we target further growth in domestic and international aerospace markets.”
