Life jackets and advertising posters get new life
Air France has cooperated with the French brand bilum to present a new collection of travel cases made from recycled life jackets and giant canvas advertising posters. Life jackets have a limited lifespan and the idea is to give them a new life rather than simply destroying them. Air France says that this reduces the airline’s impact on the environment.
The first collection of 400 items is now available online, with a flat case selling for €19 and a padded case for €24. Bags and ticket wallets hand-cut from old advertising posters are also available. The fabric has not been changed, so that each case is unique.
Other airlines, including Finnair, Delta and Qantas, have also recycled materials such as seat covers into new objects for resale.
