Airline deploys VR for upgrades

Passengers tempted with 360-degree experience
Lufthansa is deploying virtual reality for upgrades to Premium Economy. At its Frankfurt hub, it has been inviting passengers to put on some VR glasses and take a look at how the cabin looks from a seat in its Premium Economy Class.
It hopes that passengers booked in Economy will agree to an upgrade, for an additional charge, after experiencing in 360 degrees the additional space, legroom and comfort of a seat in the next class up.
During a promotional period, Lufthansa used VR glasses with selected intercontinental flights as a way of offering passengers an upgrade up to 40 minutes before their departure.
Passengers who decided to go for it could then pay the surcharge directly at the gate via a mobile payment device.
