Turkish Airlines to launch live TV and wireless internet services
Turkish Airlines has announced that it will be the first carrier to offer live, inflight television on trans-Atlantic flights. It will also be among the first European carriers to introduce wifi internet access to its passengers. The airline received the first B777-300ER with a GCS system from Boeing on September 23. It also plans to launch this system on 11 Boeing 777-300ER and 10 Airbus A330-200 aircraft in the near future.
Panasonic’s eXTV television network is using the company’s eXConnect inflight Ku-band communications service to deliver television programming to passengers during their flight. It will provide live, uninterrupted content to aircraft flying all over the world, even over oceans. The service will offer channels such as BBC World, BBC Arabic and Euronews.
