$26.1 billion worth of commitments

Airbus is about to break the record it achieved in 2007 at Le Bourget air show when it got more than 700 orders.
The European plane maker received orders for 263 aircraft worth $26.1 billion. And the A320neo family had sold over 700 units in 2011. The deals came from Europe and the U.S., but with big commitments from the fast growing Asian, South American and Middle East markets. Airbus announced orders from CIT Group, JetBlue Airways, Garuda Indonesia and TransAsia, Indigo, Air Asia with deliveries starting from 2013 up to 2019.
As a response to Airbus success, Boeing suggested it would take a different approach than its competitor and build a new 737 rather than embedding new engines into an older fuselage model.
