Airbus A350-1000 to use more powerful engines

More powerful Trent XWB engine to improve A350-1000 payload-range

Airbus and Rolls-Royce  are to jointly develop the A350-1000 with more powerful Trent XWB engines. In doing so, Airbus says it has responded to the market’s call to offer even greater payload and range. The enhanced version of the Trent XWB engine will be fully optimised for the biggest member of the A350 XWB Family and deliver up to 97,000lbs of thrust on takeoff, making it the most powerful engine ever developed for an Airbus aircraft. The entry into service is set for mid-2017.
The enhanced A350-1000 aircraft will have 25% less fuel burn and CO2 emissions than its nearest competitor. Airbus says that this will assure the A350-1000’s position as the most efficient aircraft in its category.
