airberlin expands network to Caribbean

Eight weekly flights to Puerto Plata and Varadero

airberlin has pledged to increase its frequencies to the Caribbean in winter 2014-15, at the same time expanding its tourist services from Dusseldorf and Munich.

From November 2014, there will be two extra non-stop flights from Dusseldorf to Varadero in Cuba and Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic.

But the two destinations will be available to passengers from Munich as well, meaning that airberlin is adding four flights from Dusseldorf and Munich, making a total of eight weekly flights to Puerto Plata and Varadero.

The airline said that, altogether, passengers in winter will be able to choose from “20 flights per week to long-haul destinations with guaranteed sunshine”, including Puerto Plata and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, Varadero in Cuba, Cancún in Mexico and the island of Curaçao. It stressed that in winter, for example, it is offering a connection every day from Germany to Punta Cana.
