airBaltic strengthens Nordic ties

More routes to Riga to launch in 2017
The Latvian airline airBaltic, which achieved 10% passenger growth in 2016 (2.89 million passengers), is planning at least ten additional routes this summer season, including several in the Nordics.
It says it wants to accelerate its growth with 16% additional tickets or seats on sale in 2017. It currently serves over 60 destinations, each of which it says offers convenient connections via Riga to a network spanning Europe, Scandinavia, the CIS and the Middle East.
Routes to Riga will launch from Stavanger from May 2 (three flights a week), Gothenburg on June 1 (six flights a week) and Tampere on March 26 (six flights a week).
Other new routes connecting to the Latvian capital this summer include Madrid, Munich, Paris, Geneva, Aberdeen, Odessa and Catania.
airBaltic was recently the launch partner for the Bombardier CS300 and earlier this month received the second of these jets out of 20 on firm order. It is also in the process of improving its Riga-Copenhagen route.
