Air traffic delays down 57.6% in Europe

Statistics for September show significant improvements

Despite weather-related disruptions and strikes, air traffic delays in Europe decreased by 57.6% in September, compared to the same month a year ago. Airlines battled staff disruptions in Greece and Germany, including the Lufthansa cabin crew strike, as well as poor weather conditions in Western Europe.
In the UK, air traffic delays during the three months covering the period of the Olympic Games were down by 87% year-on-year. Delays were down 97% on 2007 (when air traffic reached its peak) and 96% down on 2004 (when traffic levels were similar to today).
