For the International Forum for Investments in Côte d’Ivoire, Air France yesterday operated a special flight to Abidjan by Airbus A380.
For the 2014 winter season, Air France wishes to serve Abidjan by A380 on a regular basis*. After Johannesburg, Abidjan would therefore become the second destination on the African continent to be served by the Air France superjumbo.
Abidjan has nearly seven million inhabitants. Air France has strengthened its presence there since summer 2013 by increasing its capacity, with ten instead of seven weekly flights and a larger choice of flight schedules for customers.
A Servair Chef on board
This special flight to Côte d’Ivoire was also a major event for Servair, an Air France subsidiary and leader in airline catering and airport services in Africa.
Michel Quissac, Servair’s Corporate Chef, was on board this flight and welcomed La Première and Business customers. During the trip, he presented the à la carte menus, found out what they think of the dishes and explained how the company adapts to the constraints of airline catering on a daily basis, to preserve the original spirit and flavour of the dishes on board. In addition, he passed on his expertise and know-how to the crew, to ensure dishes are presented in an optimum way and to constantly ensure service excellence. Once a week, Air France renews this exceptional event on one of its long-haul flights.
On the Abidjan-Paris return flight by A380 on the evening of 28 January, Servair Abidjan provided for the very first time the catering supplies for the super jumbo on departure from an African station.
Optimum comfort on board the A380
The Air France A380, with a capacity of 516 seats, offers four cabin classes: La Première (9 seats), Business (80 seats) Premium Economy (38 seats) and Economy (389 seats). This Airbus is already a new benchmark in terms of air transport and the environment. Besides unparalleled comfort in a cabin with exceptional dimensions, it offers a low noise level on board and uses less fuel, therefore reducing CO2 emissions.
Air France, sponsors the International Forum for Investments in Côte d’Ivoire
From 29 January to 1 February 2014, Air France is sponsoring the International Forum for Investments in Côte d’Ivoire, bringing together major African and international companies. This forum, for businessmen, economic and corporate operators, is intended as an essential meeting opportunity for Ivorian economic recovery.
“Our ambition to serve Abidjan by A380 and our presence at the International Forum for Investments in Côte d’Ivoire offer additional evidence of the Air France-KLM Group’s commitment to support the dynamic economic development underway in a modern-day Africa keen to exchange with the rest of the world. We are therefore continuing to expand in this continent where we have been present for over 75 years” stated Patrick Alexandre, Executive Vice President Commercial, Sales and Marketing Air France-KLM.
