First Allegro high-speed rail connection with AY code
Combined air-and-rail tickets go on sale today for travel between Russia’s giant metropolis of St Petersburg and the rest of the world via Helsinki Airport. Passengers will be able to combine their flights with a high-speed Allegro train. The first Allegro rail connection with Finnair’s AY code will take place on December 1.
Passengers travelling with a combined ticket are offered two daily train connections between St Petersburg and Helsinki. The trip between Helsinki’s Central Railway Station and St Petersburg’s Finland Station takes three hours and 36 minutes. Passport and customs procedures are carried out on the train while en route.
The minimum connecting time for passengers making an intermodal transfer is currently two hours and 45 minutes, according to airport operator Finavia. The combined ticket enables the passengers also a stop in Helsinki.
Meanwhile, Helsinki Airport’s air and ground traffic arrangements are developing continuously. A new rail connection arriving at the airport from Helsinki city centre during summer 2015 promises to improve connections between the airport and Allegro-train even further.
