Agreement may boost traffic at the airport by 50%
Aarhus Airport is set to grow rapidly following the news it has launched cooperation with SAS. This could see traffic at the airport rise by 50%.
The strategic agreement involves starting a large number of routes to cities in Europe from the northern Danish airport, particularly seasonal departures in summer.
“We’ve taken stock of our customers’ desires, as well as the vision of Aarhus and east-Jutland to expand and invest,” declares Lars Sandahl Sørensen, SAS COO.
“Aarhus is interesting to many foreign companies, also in terms of tourism, so we believe there is great potential there.”
There will also be many more frequencies to and from Copenhagen. Details of the new routes planned will be revealed in October, with Aarhus Airport board chairman Torben Boldsen hinting that Stockholm and Oslo are in high demand.
