The Sámi ecotourism company Nutti Sámi Siida in Jukkasjärvi reacts to the growth in Sweden’s tourism industry with new plans and preparations for the winter, but also with long-term investments for coming years.
“The business has focused much on accommodation close to nature and it proved to converge with recent trends. Bookings for accommodation and reindeer-related activities for the season 2015/2016 have already risen by around 140%, compared with last year, “says Klara Enbom Burreau, PR and communication manager at the company.
Sámi food is a large and significant part of all our operations and we have therefore chosen to serve daily the Sámi national dish suovas and the tasty reindeer soup bidus by the fire in our Café Sápmi. “An extraordinary lunch experience in Jukkasjärvi, which does attract visitors from afar and locals alike,” Klara Enbom Burreau tells.
Sámi Siida-Sámi Camp with the big restaurant lávvu-tent and crafts shop has been refreshed, just like the Reindeer Lodge camp. All this is part of efforts to make Sámi culture, reindeer and light experiences here in Sápmi more visible and easily accessible.  ”To have close encounters with reindeer is one of the most impressive experiences one can have”, Klara says with pride.
Nutti Sámi Siida is also organizer of a multiple-day cultural journey to the Sámi winter market in Jokkmokk in February 2016. This is in collaboration with the German reputable non-profit organisation KULTURHUS BERLIN; an initiative undertaken in close cooperation with Nutti Sámi Siida’s marketing office in Berlin. “With the Jokkmokk journey and other trips to Sámi events we respond to a documented trend of increasing demand for cultural tourism services”, says Nils Torbjörn Nutti, the company’s owner and managing director. He emphasizes that it is close to his heart to convey his culture and way of life to visitors from around the world.
The company recently released their newly designed website, and together with an online booking system it will be easier to find us and book a Sápmi experience in Swedish Lapland.
