Property sale and passenger growth improve earnings
Airport operator Swedavia’s revenues increased 5.3% during the second quarter to SEK 2,697 million (€295 million). In addition, the sale of a hotel property adjacent to Stockholm Arlanda boosted other operating revenues by SEK 347 million, the operator reported. Operating profit increased to SEK 939 million. Profit before tax was SEK 808 million.
During the quarter, 9.6 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. That corresponds to an increase of just over 600,000 passengers or 6.9% compared to the same period during 2013 – record figures for Swedavia.
“The sharp growth in travel creates great opportunities for additional flight connections and highlights the need to develop the capacity at our airports, thus ensuring long-term sustainable infrastructure for air travel for the benefit of all Sweden,” said Torborg Chetkovich, president and CEO of Swedavia.
